On September 13, 2026, at the age of 82, Winston Crosbie passed away surrounded by his loving wife and children. Born in Porus, Manchester, Jamaica on October 31, 1943 to Albert Crosbie and Mavis Spencer, he would go on to build a fulfilling life in Florida where he resided for more than 60 years.
Winston, affectionately known as Sonnie by those closest to him, was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. It was at a bus stop on his way to work where he would meet his future wife, Judith Brown. They were married on May 10, 1969, and the couple soon left Jamaica to settle in South Florida. Together they had two children, Sydnia and Winston II.
He graduated from Barry University in 1993 with a degree in International Business, and worked for almost 30 years at Motorola as a technician, training supervisor, and a technical support specialist. Upon retiring, he transitioned to real estate as a consultant with Strategic GMAC and later Keller Williams.
Winston was a huge sports fan. Growing up in Jamaica, he played cricket, and even joined a bowling league while working at Motorola. He also developed a love for American football and enjoyed cheering for the Miami Hurricanes and Dolphins.
Well known for his green thumb, he was an officer of the Palm Beach Chapter of the Rare Fruit Council and started his own rare fruit tree business, Royal Ascot Tropical Trees. Many reaped the fruits of his labor as Winston happily shared mangoes, starfruit, and other tropical produce with friends.
As a resident of The Acreage, he served as president of the Acreage Landowners Association, publishing its monthly newsletter. He also dedicated his life to honoring the Lord, and was a vital member of Oasis Church for over 30 years. Winston fulfilled his duties as a deacon and elder, and despite his health, he never neglected his obligations to the congregation.
But one of the greatest joys of his life was his role as doting grandfather to his grandchildren, Jazmin, Zane, and Myles. He loved them immensely and was therefore regularly roped into activities he normally wouldn’t do, like caring for guinea pigs.
Winston will be remembered for his kindness, principled nature, welcoming smile, and disdain for bad drivers. Known as a perpetual jokester, he made people laugh wherever
he went, but like most, he was a man defined by paradoxes. Winston was frugal yet endlessly generous; stubborn but ready to do anything for his family and friends; and a private man whose home was always open to all. More than anything, Winston was a caring person. He never let a birthday or holiday go by without sending a card, call, or text to let people know they were in his thoughts. Although he is no longer here, he is undoubtedly enjoying his biggest real estate venture yet in the Kingdom of Heaven. Winston is survived by his devoted wife, Judith, children Sydnia (Rajeev) and Winston II, and cherished grandchildren: Jazmin, Zane and Myles as well as a host of extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held on September 25th at 10:30 AM at Oasis Church in Wellington, FL. Winston will be laid to rest at Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery following the service at noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
