Winnifred Carey Thomas

Winnifred Carey Thomas, affectionately known as "Winnie", was born on July 26,1962 to the late Edgar Adolph Carey and Kathleen Carey from St. Andrew Jamaica. Winnie received her education from Pahokee Junior and Senior High School, University of Florida in Gainesville, Prospect Hall College, and Broward Community College. Winnie earned an Associate degree in Business and Accounting. Winnie was employed with Alex Flamingo Groves and Alex's Gift Shop for 23 years. On the afternoon of March 20, 2009 Winnie quietly went to be with the Lord. She will truly be missed by family and friends. She leaves to mourn: her beloved mother, Kathleen Carey; a loving and devoted son, Cedric Thomas, a beautiful darling daughter, Natasha Thomas, stepson Darren Thomas; three God- children Demetrius, Dimitria and Darius Cleare. Seven brothers: Roy Carey (Yvonne), Lafette Carey (Rachel), William Carey (Merline), Ephram Carey, Shirley Carey (Peaches), Leonard Carey (fiancee Dee), and Adolph Carey; two sisters-Marline Carey and Dorett Euston; five uncles: John, Albert, Gart, Silbourne and Robert; four aunts: Donna, Irma, Rose and Madge; twelve nephews: Roderick, Anthony, William Jr, Matthew, Dwayne, Nathaniel, Ephram Jr., Lewis, Jeffrey, Michael, Devontae, Lavontae; fourteen nieces: Sophia, Patricia, Crystal, Desrine, Dominique, Shameika, Latasha, Laquita, Lashanae, Labrittiney, Chantelle, Barbie, Shameika and Shanise; seven grand nephews and thirteen grand nieces; a special and very close cousin, Audrey Carey from New York and her sons Brandon and Andrea; her best friends Ruby and Demetrius Cleare; a host of other relatives and friends including Barry, Glenn, Allan, Betty Williams (mom) and Faye Daniels of Nassau Bahamas, Tennessee and Alfred Brown, Andy and Yvonne Williams of Fort Pierce FL, Guisela, Stewart Webster, Alex Medina & Family, Juanito & Michelle Benjamin Torres, Elrose, Janice Benjamin, and a host of other relatives and friends. Winnie was preceded in death by sisters Pauline Carey and Josephine Ashley. Visitation will be held 6 - 8 PM pm, Friday, March 27, 2009 at Palms West Funeral Home. A second visitation will be held 11 am - 12 pm on Saturday, March 28, 2009 with a service beginning at 12 pm.
