William Harry Joslin, Jr., 81, beloved husband and best friend of F. Barbara Joslin, died January 25, 2008 in Wellington, Florida. A summer resident of Little Compton, Rhode Island, Bill was born to a 21 gun salute in the village of Clayville, Rhode Island on April 30, 1926, and was the oldest of six children born to William Harry and Corinne Joslin. During his high school years he enjoyed several summers as a cowhand on a working ranch in Wyoming, and graduated from Moses Brown School in 1944. He then attended Brown University, where he was a member of the Psi Upsilon Fraternity, and served in the Navy ROTC, graduating in the class of 1946. In addition to his wife Bobbi, he is survived by daughter Holly Hunter Joslin of Dana Point, CA, daughter Jennifer Joslin and husband Eric Ornas of Santa Cruz, CA, and daughter Laurie Warner Reid and husband Peter Reid of Rumford, Rhode Island. His son, William Harry Joslin, III, predeceased him. He is also survived by stepchildren Ellen Mayer, and David and Charisse Mayer. His nine grandchildren include Griffin and Cooper Warner, Dylan and Hannah Ornas, Nellie and Sam Fleischner, and Albert, Zachary, and Austin Mayer. He was the former husband of Natalie Cull Joslin of Sarasota, Florida and East Greenwich, Rhode Island. Bill had a long and successful career as General Agent of the Rhode Island office of the National Life Insurance Company of Vermont. He was a Chartered Life Underwriter, Certified Financial Planner, and was consistently elected to the Million Dollar Round Table. He was a member of the former Turk?s Head Club, the Agawam Hunt Club, the University Club, the Sakonnet Golf Club and the Warren?s Point Beach Club in Rhode Island, and the Palm Beach Polo Club in Wellington, Florida. One of the greatest joys of his life was spending summers with his family at the beach in Little Compton, Rhode Island. After marrying Bobbi, they enjoyed many years of breeding and racing thoroughbreds, including several stakes winners. After Bill?s retirement, he and Bobbi moved to Wellington, Florida for the winters. They enjoyed meeting many new friends, which led to the legendary men?s golf group, the ?Nooners.? In recent years, he took his wild bunch of extended family on memorable cruises with destinations ranging from Glacier Bay, Alaska to the Panama Canal, from the rainforests of Guatemala to the Pacific Coast of Mexico. Bill had a keen lifelong interest in, and encyclopedic knowledge of, history and politics, and was an engaging conversationalist. He will be remembered by family and friends for his incisive intelligence, irreverent sense of humor, and generous heart.
