WILLAM CARL HESS, 76, of West Palm Beach, FL, passed away February 14, 2015 due to complications from Parkinson's disease with his wife Dee and daughter at his side. Bill was born to the late Carl L. and Mary Virginia Hess in Baltimore, MD on December 31, 1938. He was a United States Navy Veteran (Retired). He served 33 years as a police officer in Montgomery County, MD, Lee County, FL, the City of West Palm Beach, FL and finally retiring from Palm Beach County Sherriff's Department in West Palm Beach, FL. Bill was a Past Master of the Masonic Lodge in Wellington, FL; Past Patron of the Eastern Star; Life Member and Past District Commander of the American Legion and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign War. He was a rider with the Blue Knights. He leaves behind his devoted wife Delores of 53 years. Bill and Dee met in Junior High school and were later married on January 27, 1962. He also leaves behind his daughter Shari Hess, Stepson Richard Erkenbrack and wife Elizabeth, his two grandchildren Travis and Sarah. He is also survived by his sister Marta Wigglesworth and her husband Mike; his Brother-in-law Joseph Leonberger and wife Margaret and countless nieces, nephews and their extended families to many to name. A visitation will take place at Palms West Funeral Home on Friday, February 20, 2015 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a service beginning at 7:00 PM. Burial to take place at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to either The Michael J. Fox Foundation or The Wounded Warrior Project.
