William Rafael Fernandez

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of William Rafael Fernandez, of Lake Worth, FL on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at the age of 68 years. William, fondly known as Willie, was born to Manuel Arturo and Elecia Fernandez, on October 3, 1954, in the Dominican Republic. He grew up among his parents, nine brothers and sisters, and town full of aunts and uncles and cousins whom he shared his childhood with. Willie immigrated to the City of New York in January of 1970, where he attended high school at George Washington High School and met the love of his life a year after arriving in the US. Willie was a hard working provider and would eventually become a small business owner. Willie is survived by his wife Agustina and their three children: William Manuel (Dania), Jessica (Michael Rodriguez), and Rosalie (Julio Smith); and six grandchildren: Michayla, Mahlia and Mackenzie Rodriguez; Tyler and Timothy Smith and Liam Fernandez. He is also survived by his mother, Elecia, his siblings: Altagracia; Jose Arturo (Tania); Eduardo (Rosie); Rosa Onely; Carlos Alberto (Gladys); Osmarix and Hector Ramon (Erika); his mother-in-law, Marianela Jimenez, 'Chita' and his sister-in-law, Marianela Jimenez, 'Maddie' and an abundant number of nieces and nephews and God children, all of whom he adored. He was preceded in death by his father, Manuel Arturo, his siblings Miguel Horacio and Jose Uride 'Cachin' and his nephew, Edward. Aside from his love and commitment for his family, Willie was passionate about baseball. He loved to talk stats and was an avid baseball card collector. He loved spending his time playing dominoes, where he was known to cheat and argue, regardless of whether or not he was winning or losing. Aside from his two favorite past-times, Willie loved people and made friends everywhere he went. He befriended all of his neighbors and truly cared for people, friends and strangers alike, and was a staple of every community that he lived in. He will always be remembered for his beautiful smile, which he generously shared with the world. Willie's family will host a funeral service on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. The service will be at Saint Rita's Church in Wellington. "Death ends a life, not a relationship.
