William Thomas Bannin, 87, of Greenacres, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 15, 2011. William was born August 20, 1923, in Glens Falls, NY, the youngest of his parents, William F. and Josephine Mary (Truax) Bannin. He is predeceased by his wife, Lois Mary Bannin, in 2008 after 61 years of marriage, his parents, and seven brothers and sisters. William is survived by his children, Sheila M. Brodbeck (Gregory), William T. Bannin, Jr., and Christopher John Bannin (Belinda), six grandchildren, Tiffany Bannin Corbett, Heather M. Stone (George), William Arrowsmith, Mary K. Brodbeck, Tina Marie Bannin, and Lyanna Victoria Bannin, and five great grandchildren, Eric Michael Stone, Sean Patrick Stone, Kevin Grant Stone, Megan Elizabeth Noel Stone and Faith Anne Stone. William served three years in the Army during World War II. He received the Normandy Medal of the Jubilee of Liberty for his participation in the Normandy invasion. He was fond of saying that he came home from the war without a scratch so that he could marry Lois. After 20 years of service, William retired from the City of West Palm Beach in 1985. He was a loving husband to Lois, and a great father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was quick with a joke, was always ready to help out, a really great guy, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be Sunday, July 17, 2011, 6 - 8 p.m. at Palms West Funeral Home, 110 Business Park Way, Royal Palm Beach, FL. A Mass of Celebration will be held on Monday, July 18, 2011,
