Lopez, Wanda Theresa Wanda T. Lopez, age 56, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 20, 2015. She was a devoted loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and friend. She is survived by her husband Rafael, twin children Rafael Lopez and Alessandra Miakashi, son Gabriel Lopez, granddaughter Akira Miakashi as well as daughter- and son- in-law, Heather Lopez and Akio Miakashi. She is also survived by brothers David, Andrew, and Mark Serrano as well as her parents Elsa and Manuel Serrano. She also leaves behind many dear friends including Shawn Asiala. Born in New York City on March 31, 1959, she attended Lehman College and married her soul mate Rafael on May 22, 1983. She relocated to Florida on August 7, 1990, after being the ROCK which allowed her husband to complete his residency in Philadelphia. During her life, she raised three wonderfully unique and respectful children and was actively involved in the parent teacher organizations at Wellington Christian School. She was the former owner of My Quilt Shoppe (a lifelong dream) but closed the store to care for her mother. She enjoyed quilting, "hanging out with Shawn", seasonal home decorating, cooking family meals, flying throughout the country to visit her grandbaby Akira, as well as Alessandra, cheering on her professional baseball player son Rafael, and scouting out the nearest quilt shop. If a nursery needed to be set up for Akira, post-op care given for an athletic injury, or if one of her children was just home sick, she was on the first plane available! She enjoyed spending endless peaceful moments on North Hutchinson Island with her family and husband as well as yearly vacations on Anna Maria Island. We will miss her radiant smile, mood-changing laugh, indomitable spirit, and unrelenting love and generosity. Visitation will be Monday, November 30, 2015 at Palms West funeral home from 5-9 pm. A memorial mass will be held at St Rita's catholic church on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, her family respectfully encourages a donation to the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org).
