Virginia R. Penton

March 22, 1936 — March 30, 2023

With her beloved family by her side, Virginia Penton of Wellington, Florida, died peacefully at home on March 30, 2023, at the age of 86. Virginia was born in Sagua La Grande, Cuba on May 22, 1936, to Francisco Fonseca-Peris and Benita Fonseca-Nuñez, and lived in Cuba for over three decades before moving to the United States. During the turbulent Cuban revolution, Virginia's parents passed away and Virginia took over raising her four younger siblings. In 1961, she married Ernesto "Pepe" Penton, and they moved to the United States with their two young daughters in 1970. Through the years Virgina and Pepe raised their daughters, Virginia enjoyed volunteering in the Wellington community, travelling, cooking, sewing, and most of all spending time with her family. When her family grew to include four grandchildren, Virginia loved cooking, teaching them Spanish and disciplining them after they played pranks on her and they lovingly referred to her as "Tita." Virginia is survived by her beloved husband, Pepe, of 61 years; her two daughters, Maria (Wesley) Rhodes, and Leidy (Fermin) Cardona; her four grandchildren, Victoria Dayne Cordona, Briana Marie Perez, Brett Eliot Rhodes, and Garrett Norman Rhodes; and three great grandchildren, Roman Manuel Perez III, Troy Matthew Perez, and Maximus Meridius Perez. A celebration of life will be held on April 8, at Palms West Funeral Home in Royal Palm, Fl. at 10:00 a.m.
