Virginia Vargas Marrero Solis was born to Jose Vargas (deceased) and Eugenia Marrero Lebron on May 29, 1939 in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. She was raised and educated in Puerto Rico. She moved to the United States in the late Fifties and resided in Chicago, Illinois. She worked in the hospitality industry in various capacities and later moved to North Miami Beach, FL and raised her family. She would later settle in West Palm Beach, FL and work as a seamstress. Virginia had a desire to help individuals in the Guatemalan community, which resulted in the establishment of the Migrant Workers Society non-profit organization. Through her work with this organization Virginia provided immigration awareness and educational services to individuals and families. She tirelessly served the Guatemalan community for over twenty years. Her service not only made a difference in the lives of thousands of Guatemalans but made a significant contribution and positive impact on the overall community. Virginia is preceded in death by sons, Julian Solis, Jr and Anthony Solis; brother, Raul Vargas Marrero; and sister, Hilda Vargas. Virginia leaves to cherish her fond memories one son, Gerald L. Solis; five daughters: Jeannette Solis, Betty Ann Solis, Julie Virginia Solis all of San Antonio, TX, Evelyn Taylor of Port St. Lucie, FL, and Valerie Ann Solis-Ramirez (Maximino) of Loxahatchee, FL; brothers, Jose Luis Vargas Marrero (Iris) and Ismael Vargas Marrero (Antonia); sisters, Rosy Vargas, Vidalina Guerrero, Carmen N. Vargas-Marrero, Haydee Vargas-Marrero all of Mayagüez, Puerto Rico; 25 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren; special friends Cheryl Delgaudio and Audrey Goulding, and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
