Virginia Lee Kannady passed away on December 10, 2024, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Born on March 19, 1948, to Naomi Beatrice O'Brien Kannady and Robert Calvin Kannady in St. Louis, MO, she was the eldest of eight children. As a young child, Ginger and her family relocated to Springfield, IL. Ginger was educated at Blessed Sacrement Catholic grade school and Ursuline Academy Catholic high school. She married Michael J. Cour of Springfield in 1969. They share two children, Tamara L. Soto (widowed) of Wellington, FL, and Todd M. Cour (Susan) of Nekoosa, WI. Ginger was very dedicated to her children and family, always there with an open ear and warm embrace. With impressive typing skills, she worked in community schools and doctors' offices as a dictation/transcription specialist before relocating to Wellington, FL, in 2002. Ginger's passion was her creativity and imagination. She was a voracious reader. Although she rarely went far from home and family, she was well educated and traveled the world through her readings. She was partial to her Irish history and a whiz at trivia of any kind. A child at heart with a great sense of humor, she enjoyed Disney movies and the sitcom "Cheers." Known for her thoughtful gifts, of personalized shadow box memories, painted ceramics, embroidery, silk flower arrangements, and much more, each piece reflected the love she had for the person(s) she was creating it for. "Gigi" loved all things blue, beach, ocean, and seashells. Ginger was predeceased by her parents, siblings Timothy, Christopher (Diana), James, Delia Davis (Bill), and Maureen. Also, son-in-law Manuel Soto. Ginger/Mom/Grandma/Gigi's memory will be cherished by her surviving children, sibling Patrick Kannady, and grandchildren, Faith N. Cour, Danielle J. Cour, Alexa G. Cour, Adrionna N. Cour, and Isabella F. Soto. Ginger knew her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We are at peace today knowing she is once again healthy and reunited with those she loved. A private celebration of life service at sea will be held on 3/23/25. Footprints by Robert Longley Few things are as fleeting
As footprints in the sand;
Sometimes we walk alone
And sometimes hand in hand. Both paths tell a story
That waves may wash away; As long as we have the memory
They live with us each day. Come to the beach and remember; Make some footprints of your own,
And think of days now absent
And the memories we've known. The water can be healing It always was for me Just take time to remember
And I think that you will see.
