Tomasita Malave-Bolet, a beloved spouse, mother, friend, and great beauty, departed from this world on November 26th, 2023. Tomasita or "Big Tammy" as she was known to her friends and family, was a vibrant soul who touched the lives of many with her radiant energy and profound ability to tell captivating stories. She leaves behind a legacy of generosity, laughter, and many cherished memories. Born September 5th 1962, Big Tammy displayed an insatiable curiosity for knowledge and a desire to live life to the fullest. Since her childhood, she sought the acquisition of knowledge alongside experiencing as much of life's pleasures as she could. A true fighter from beginning to end. She excelled academically, paving the way for a distinguished career first as a theologian, delving into the depths of spirituality and faith and later as an elementary and special education teacher. Her signature phrase, "further research is needed" reflected her zest for life and knowledge. As an efficient educator, she influenced countless minds and nurtured hundred of her students. She also instilled a love of learning in her children and she never missed an opportunity to trumpet their academic successes, degrees, and careers. Big Tammy's magnetic personality made her the life of every gathering she attended. She was popular with fellow athletes in high school, among parishioners in her early adulthood, and classmates in graduate school. Her love for music, singing and dancing brought rhythm to countless moments, infusing joy into the hearts of those around her. Her gregarious nature and gift of conversation made her a cherished friend to many. Tomasita was a devoted spouse who was unwavering in her love and support. Her family meant so much to her, and she embraced her role as a mother with affection, generosity, and compassion. In recent years, Big Tammy was the primary care giver to her beloved mother Blanca Nieves Bolet. Tomasita also found a renewed interest in religion, regularly attending Shabbat services, and she took the time for introspection, finding deeper meaning and wisdom in her later years. Her ability to connect with herself and other people on a profound level, coupled with her effervescent spirit, made her a beacon of light for many in her orbit. Tomasita's departure leaves a void in the lives of all who knew her. She is survived by her husband Leonard Keush, her ex-husband, and dear friend, Arturo Carreno, her siblings Victor Malave and Angel Garcia, her nephews Hector Rivera and Nathaniel Rivera, her three children, Jamie Davidson, Joseph Carreno and Tammy Avolese, four grandchildren Noah Sterling, Luke, Nathaniel, and Catherine "Beba," and her beloved dog Tito the Chug. Her spirit and influence will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched. Her legacy of love, knowledge, and vivacity will be cherished forever. A celebration of her unique life will be held at Palms West Funeral Home on November 30th from 2:00-4:00PM and 6:00-8:00PM, where friends and family will gather to honor and remember the person she was. She will be laid to rest at Our Lady Queen of Peace on December 1st 2023 at 10:00AM. Tomasita Malave-Bolet will forever be remembered for her boundless love, playful nature, and her role in making the world a brighter place. May her eternal soul rest in neverending peace.
