Tollef Owen Nasby, Sr., age 80, born in Esterville, Iowa, died on Thursday, January 1, 2009 at his home in Wellington, Florida. Col. Nasby served in the United States Air Force for 25 years, retiring in September of 1975. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Campbell Nasby, his three sons Thomas (Cathy), Tollef Owen, Jr. (Candy), John (Nadine), his sister Ruth and his eight grandchildren. Col. Nasby graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science and pursued three additional degrees from University of Illinois and Southern Illinois University. Following his retirement from the Air Force, Col. Nasby was employed as a substitute teacher at Crestwood Community Middle School in Royal Palm Beach, Florida. His passion for the last 25 years was riding his bicycle. Col. Nasby rode in several cross-country and multi-state races amassing a total of 12,000 miles on his bike. Viewing will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2009 at the Palms West Funeral Home, 110 Business Parkway, Royal Palm Beach, Florida 33411. Viewing hours are from 2-4 PM and from 7-9 PM. A funeral Service will also be held at Palms West Funeral Home on Monday, January 5, 2009 at 2 PM. Internment will be at the South Florida VA National Cemetery in Lake Worth, Florida.
