Tino Merli passed away peacefully on February 20, 2021 with his beloved wife, Linda, at his side. He was born in Vercelli, Italy and graduated from Hotel School in Switzerland. He began his career as an Officer on the Italian Cruise Line and since he had always wanted to travel, spoke five languages and loved interacting with people, it was a perfect fit. Tino had wanted to live in New York City and his next job took him into the fashion industry, where he worked as the executive assistant to Aldo Gucci. His next adventure was opening a restaurant near New Orleans. He eventually made his way back to New York and resumed his employment at Gucci, where he met the love of his life, Linda. Tino's heart had never really left the hospitality industry and the rest of his career was spent as a Chef Concierge at luxury hotels in Manhattan. His warm, engaging personality and professionalism was always evident, in dealings with guests from U.S. Presidents and international dignitaries to families on vacation. He made many friendships at work which continued on a personal level. Tino was a kind, generous man with a great sense of humor. He explored NYC and its many attractions, including Broadway, Opera, restaurants and museums. He loved to cook Italian dinners for friends and go fishing. Indulging his life-long passion for travel, he took many road trips across Europe and the U.S. and visited many National Parks. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Linda, his mother Piera, sister Maria, Fabrizio, cousins Silvia and Marisa and niece Diana. His many friends and extended family also mourn his loss.
