On January 2, 2023, Thomas Ray Simmons Sr. of West Palm Beach, Florida went to be with the Lord. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 5th, 1952. Thomas was survived by his wife, Mary, of 48 years of marriage. He was also survived by his children, Thomas Ray Simmons Jr, Tammy Marie Simmons and his grandchildren Thomas Ray Simmons III and William Ira Simmons, Sister: Linda Brandon of Dallas, Texas, Brother: Richard Simmons of Dallas, Texas, Sister: Laura Burnett of Terrell, Texas and many other family members. He will be joined by his older brothers James W Simmons and Clyde Simmons and his parents, Richard and Zora Simmons. Thomas and Mary met in Austin, Texas in 1972 and after 3 months of dating they were married in September of the same year. They later moved to Dallas, Texas where they ran and operated Wright's Automotive Repair shop for over 30 years. They had their first child, a son, Thomas Ray Simmons, Jr in 1976 and later their daughter Tammy Marie Simmons in 1984. In 2003 Thomas moved to Florida with his wife and family to be closer to their two grandsons. He worked for the Florida Turnpike until his retirement to spend more time with family and to take care of his Mother-in-Law, Mary Jane Simmons until her passing in 2021. Thomas enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, building puzzles and playing Pokemon Go. He was an avid Texas Longhorns and Dallas Cowboys fan and loved anything relating to NASCAR. He enjoyed spending Sundays watching football games with his brother-in-law Paul Mata and sister-in-law Roseanna Mata and family. Thomas will be remembered as a loving son, brother, husband, father, uncle and grandfather as well as a loyal friend to so many others. He was always known to be kind, honest and funny. He was a generous man and would always do for others before himself. His love for his wife and family was unwavering and he would do anything for them. Thomas will be sorely missed and will always be remembered fondly for his devotion to his family and friends.
