Tommy Holt, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and respected leader in agriculture, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2025 at the age of 80 after a long illness. Tommy was born on November 17, 1945, in Donaldsonville, Georgia, to Wynell and Collie Holt. At the age of six, his family relocated to Pahokee, Florida, where his father began farming. Tommy graduated from Pahokee High School in 1963 and soon joined his father in the farming industry. Tommy's career was marked by innovation and dedication. He partnered with Ted and Trudy Winsberg in Boynton Beach, forming a successful farming partnership that lasted many years. Later, he established a long-standing partnership with his friend John Hundley, while also managing his own farming operations. He and his father invested in S.M. Jones Sales and Packinghouse in Canal Point, which later moved to Belle Glade. Tommy expanded his horizons by purchasing land in Georgia, forming Twin H Farms with John Hundley to grow sweet corn, peanuts and cotton. He proudly told friends he was not only a sweet corn grower but also a producer of peanuts and cotton. His Georgia venture included building Three Rivers Produce, a state-of-the-art precooler that continues to operate today. "Tommy was a great life- long friend and business partner in Florida and Georgia." John L. Hundley One of Tommy's proudest moments, aside from the births of his children and grandchildren, was being elected to the South Florida Fair Board of Directors. He loved serving on the Agriculture Committee and looked forward each year to opening and closing the Sundy Feed Store, where he became a familiar and cherished presence. Tommy was deeply committed to his community and the agricultural industry: •Farm Family of the Year – September 14, 2004 •South Florida Fair Hall of Fame inductee (2023) •Chairman of the Agriculture Committee (2018 to 2022) •Lifetime Trustee of the South Florida Fair (2023) •Member of Farm Bureau for over 60 years •Founding member of the Sweet Corn Exchange, now Sunshine Sweet Corn Growers •Member of Georgia Cotton Growers and Georgia Peanut Growers Association •President of S.M. Jones and T Holt Farms Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Wynell and Collie Holt, and his brother Henry Holt. He is survived by his devoted wife Ann Holt, daughter Karina Holt-Rothenberg (husband Ron), son Tommy Holt Jr. (wife Stephanie), six grandchildren—Kelby Peters (husband Jensen), Ransey Boyd (husband Weston), Trey Holt, Tyler Holt, Cannon Holt, Cole Holt—and three great-grandchildren: Millie Boyd, Eloise "Ellie" Peters, and Rustyn "Rusty" Boyd. Tommy will be remembered for his generosity, humble nature, and unwavering commitment to farming. He was admired and loved by family, friends, and colleagues in both Florida and Georgia. "Dad taught us that hard work and kindness go hand in hand. His love for farming was only matched by his love for family. We will carry his legacy in our hearts forever." — The Holt Family A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the South Florida Fair Expo East Building, 9067 Southern Blvd, West Palm Beach, FL 33411.
