Thomas J. Caruso

July 1, 1934 — December 21, 2023

On December 21, 2023, Thomas "Tom" John Caruso, 89, of Lake Worth, FL passed away after struggling with a long illness and is now at peace with his beloved wife, Constance Caruso. Thomas and Constance were together for over 55 years and destined to be forever soul mates in God's Glorious Kingdom. Tom was of Italian and Irish descent and a devout Catholic born in New York, NY. He is preceded in death by his mother Margaret, father Carmine, twin brother Donald "Donnie", brothers Joe and George, sisters Margaret "Rita", Christine, and Mary, daughter Marilyn, grandson Angel, and life-long friend Stanley Moravcik. He is survived by his brother Carmine, sons Michael Caruso and George Hricik (Alexandra), daughters Susan Marie Caruso, Donna Hricik (John), Susan Averill (Jerry), and Constance Ferretti (Ernest). He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren (with another on the way), 2 great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews whom he loved as if they were his own children. Last but not least, he is also survived by his canine companion, Mona, who helped to ease the void in his life since losing his beloved spouse Constance. Thomas began working at the age of 14, starting out as a stock boy and later being promoted to management positions in the retail grocery business; he went on to own a restaurant/motel/lounge in Congers, NY. He moved to Florida in 1968 and returned back to retail management, accomplishing his life-long dream of owning his own grocery store/deli on E. Las Olas in Fort Lauderdale Beach in the 1970's. Thomas sold his business and returned back to the retail industry, impressing his clients with his superior customer service skills and knowledge of the industry while meeting the needs of his customers. Thomas retired from his long career while in his 70's and dedicated his life, first and foremost, to family, friends and to all that had the good fortune of knowing him - for he was admired and loved by all. Thomas was a man of many talents and skills; he was not only a jokester bringing laughter to others, but a prolific poet expressing his feelings and love through his poetry dedicated exclusively to his wife and family. This legacy is well preserved as a priceless treasured gift from a hero, son, sibling, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and unforgettable friend. They say a hero is a person of courage, strength and selflessness, so it is only fitting that a hero's obituary doesn't end with "He will be loved and missed" - for that is undisputed. This hero is everything we should all aspire to be.
