Stedman T. Stennett, a revered community leader and philanthropist, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2024, at the age of 87, in Wellington, Florida. Born on April 30th, 1937, in Worcester, St. James, Jamaica, he was the cherished son of Arnold and Ira Maud Bell Stennett. In 1953, Stedman embarked on his educational journey at the Knockalga Training Center in Randle, Hanover, where he excelled in Agriculture and Woodworking, graduating in 1956. His early career saw him making significant contributions to the Telephone Company for a decade, after which he moved to Brooklyn, NY, in 1966. It was there that he met and later married Lilith Yvonne Walker in 1968. Stedman's professional tenure at Chase Bank in New York was marked by exemplary leadership and a fervent dedication to the financial industry. His commitment to excellence made him a respected figure among his colleagues and within the community. Beyond his professional life, Stedman was dedicated to fostering family connections and championing excellence. Stedman's philanthropic efforts extended to a variety of charitable organizations, focusing on healthcare, housing, and food security. His environmental advocacy included his love for gardening and sharing the bountiful harvests from his gardens. He leaves behind his loving wife of 56 years, Lilith; sons Kevin, Donald, and Christopher; and beloved brothers Bruce and Alan, as well as a host of family members whose lives he has touched. His enduring legacy of kindness, generosity, and service will continue to influence and inspire. A celebration of Stedman's life will be held on August 20, 2024, at St. Peter's United Methodist Church, Wellington, Florida.
