Simone Jacques

December 21, 1924 — March 10, 2014

Marie Henriette Simone Jacques, 89, entered into eternal peace on Monday, March 10th, 2014 in West Palm Beach, Florida. Our angel was born on December 21st, 2014 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti to Aimee Jacques who raised her in the Catholic Faith. Simone grew up in Haiti in a small but tight knit family with the influence of her Grandmother and Aunts. She graduated Secretarial School in Haiti sometime after high school. She later was proud of her CNA certification that she earned stateside. Simone worked as a highly regarded secretary for the judicial system in Haiti for numerous years until immigrating to the United States to build a better life for her family. In the United States, she often was forced to work menial jobs while earning money to send home to build her dream house in Haiti. After adopting two of her grandchildren in 1983, she worked full time as a CNA in the pediatric unit of Terrence Cardinal Cooke Hospital (formerly Flowers Hospital) on 5th Ave in NYC for more than 10 years. She retired from that job at 72 years old and loved travelling to places like Italy, Rome, France, England and the Caribbean during her retirement years. Simone married Max Polynice at the tender age of 16. She always said that they were so young, their wedding looked more like a communion. They were happily married for a number of years. Their union bore three children, Sonny, Eddy and Norma. Simone was a devout Roman Catholic and a parishioner at Holy Name of Jesus Church in West Palm Beach. She enjoyed current events, politics -often spending hours watching CNN, family time, baking and cooking elaborate meals. She was known for her grace and wicked sense of humor. This coupled with senior moments left those around her in stitches. She considered her greatest accomplishment as being a Mother to many. Simone was preceded in death by her mother, Aimee Jacques, her sister, Raymonde Renelique and her daughter Norma Polynice. Simone is survived by her son Sonny Polynice of New York and Eddy (Ketley) Polynice of Miramar, Florida.; her grandchildren Simone-Elizabeth Myers, Bradley Myers, Dietrich Rey, Sandra Denis, Djenepha Polynice-Hall, Sidney Polynice, Gregory Polynice, and Stanley Polynice. She was a great-grandmother to 18 grandchildren including Kirsten Hayes and Lauren Perez with whom she lived; and her nephew Pierre Polynice. As Simone wished, a funeral service will be held at Holy Name of Jesus Church 345 South Military Trail at 11am on March 12, 2014. She will eventually be layed to rest at RoseHill Memorial Cemetery in Putnam Valley, New York. Condolences may be left on the online guest book.
