Shirley Marie Estelle, 84, of Royal Palm Beach died Feb. 23 in Good Samaritan Hospice Care Center. She and her husband, John Robert (Bob) Estelle, were married for 63 years. Viewing will be at 11 a.m. Feb. 27 at Palms West Funeral Home, 110 Business Park Way. A service will be held at noon in the funeral home chapel, followed by burial in South Florida National Cemetery. The daughter of Henri and Margaret (Brown) Plourde, she was born and raised in Easthampton, MA, and was a graduate of St. Michael's High School. She worked as a secretary before her marriage in 1951, and moved with her husband to Port Jefferson, NY. She spent the first 17 years of their marriage raising five children, then joined the workforce so they could all obtain college educations. She retired as a purchasing clerk at Mather Memorial Hospital in 1985, the same year her husband retired as director of health, physical education and athletics for the Port Jefferson School District, following years teaching and coaching high school sports. They retired to Royal Palm Beach in 1999. Besides her beloved husband, Mrs. Estelle is survived by her children, Robert Estelle, Leanne Cornwell, Claudia Hutton (Joel Stashenko), Carol Southard (James) and William Estelle (Lily); eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Judith Poulin of Easthampton, MA, and brother, Thomas Plourde of Pasadena, MD, and many nieces and nephews.
