Seosahai “Krishna” Jaikissoon was born on August 9, 1952, in Bath Settlement, Guyana. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend whose humor, generosity, kindness, and love for his family will be deeply missed.
His name holds special meaning. Seosahai means “protector of Lord Shiva,” while Jaikissoon represents “victory of the Lord”, a fitting reflection of the hope, devotion, and love he carried throughout his life.
Krishna was a devoted husband to his wife, Indra, with whom he shared 51 years of marriage. Together, they built a life centered around family and love they worked so hard to create. He was a loving father to his children, Clifton Seosahai Jaikissoon and Jennifer Jaikissoon, and an extended father to Dereck Chinwa. He was also a proud grandfather to Rehka Shivcharran and Devin Seosahai Jaikissoon.
He was the son of the late Jaikissoon Budhu and Deoki Budhu. He leaves behind his beloved siblings, Shantie, Vishnu, Seeta, and Narad, as well as 25 nieces and nephews, along with a large extended family and many friends who will carry his memory with them.
Krishna began working at a young age, starting at just 15 years old. One of his early jobs was working as a delivery boy for his uncle, who was a Tax Commissioner in Guyana. He loved his motorcycle and enjoyed the independence that came with riding it.
At just 19 years old, Krishna came to America to New York with only $15 and a student visa, determined to pursue dentistry and build a better future. During this journey, he met Indra, who would become his wife. At the age of 22, they married, beginning a partnership that would span more than five decades.
Krishna was a hardworking and determined man. In 1988, he moved his family to West Palm Beach, Florida, after him and his wife vacationed to Florida. There, he built a life through hard work and perseverance. He became an entrepreneur and successfully operated a dry-cleaning business before eventually selling it. He later joined Italian Rose, where he worked as an Operations Manager and lead the employees in a successful company before retiring.
Being a provider and breadwinner was deeply important to Krishna. He worked hard to make sure his family was cared for and never hesitated to give to the people he loved. Whenever his family needed something, he always tried to make it happen. His generosity was one of the many ways he expressed his love.
Krishna was so much more than a hardworking provider. He was a man who truly loved life. Krishna and his wife were often the first ones on the dance floor. They loved celebrating life’s special moments like anniversaries or birthdays. He had a cool, easygoing demeanor, an outgoing personality, and always welcoming to everyone he came across. He loved being surrounded by people and was known for his friendliness, laughter, and sense of humor. He was always making people laugh and was funny and likeable.
He loved music, traveling with his family, nice cars, watching football and wrestling, and most of all, spending time with the people he loved. He cherished his time with his family and had a way of bringing energy, laughter, and life into a room. Those are the moments his family will treasure most.
Krishna's journey from Guyana to America was more than his own story, he gave his family the opportunity to have a better life. He came to this country with very little, but through determination, hard work, sacrifice, and faith, he created opportunities. His greatest legacy is not simply what he built for himself, but what he built for his family. He gave his family the opportunity to pursue the American dream and to experience a better life filled with possibilities.
Krishna loved deeply, was kind and generous, understood the value of working hard, and lived with a genuine appreciation for life. He wanted more time with the people he loved and more memories to make, but God was ready for him to be at peace. Although his family members’ hearts are heavy with his passing, they find comfort in knowing that the love he gave them will last forever. His loved ones will cherish the memories they shared with him and carry his love with them for the rest of their lives.
Krishna will never be forgotten. His laughter, his kindness, his generosity, and the love he had for his family will live on through all of us. May he rest in peace, knowing that his legacy will continue through the family he loved so dearly.
