Scott Robert Thomas (12/13/1962-07/17/2017) Scott Robert Thomas, 54, had retired on February 28, 2017, but apparently needed to respond to one last call. We're not sure why he was called so suddenly-did Heaven need another guardian on patrol, or maybe a new voice leading worship, or just needed some comic relief with his corny jokes, groan-inducing puns, or one liners, nevertheless he answered on July 17, 2017. Scott was born on December 14, 1962 in New York and moved to Florida when he was 6. He grew up in Palm Beach County and graduated from John I. Leonard High School. He proudly became a Palm Beach County Sheriff Deputy at the age of 20 and during his 34 years served as a Road Patrol Deputy, a Field Training Officer, a Detective, and finished his career with serving for 14 years as a K-9 Deputy with his partners Dante and Dusty. The guys always knew it would be fun when they pulled up. While he loved being "the Sheepdog", the Protector, his true love was music and he played violin throughout high school and college, as well as singing in the choir. As a young adult, he started playing the piano, which is where he felt the most comfortable. He wrote many praise and worship songs and recorded an album in 2009. He served as a music pastor for many years, as well as playing in praise bands and singing and was looking forward to stepping back into ministry full-time. In all capacities, Scott was known for his quick wit and humor. Anybody who ever met him would be subjected to bad "Dad type" groaner jokes and there was always some sort of punny business going on with him around. He loved his family, especially football season with his boys and traveling. Driving in his beloved El Camino (as long as there was no rain). BC's (beach cruises) and coffee were common for he and his wife Janelle. They were looking forward to retiring in the mountains of Tennessee. Scott is survived by his wife of 23 years, Janelle; his 3 Sons - Scott Anthony(Kori), Jordan, and Steven, a precious new Granddaughter, Mia; his mother, Lynne Tappen, and his Sister Jill, as well as numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his Father, Ralph Tappen, and Brother, Kit Tappen. A Celebration of Scotts Life will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 Christ Fellowship Gardens Campus 5343 Northlake Blvd. Palm Beach Gardens, Florida 33418 10:00 a.m.
