Santos Camacho

SANTOS CAMACHO 1934-2021 Mr. Santos Camacho was a brother, father, grandfather, songwriter, musician, singer, a mentor to many, and a friend to all. Santos was 87 years of age when he peacefully passed away in the arms of his family on July 28, 2021, in Lake Worth, Florida. Santos was born on April 1, 1934, in Bayaney Hatillo, Puerto Rico, to Julia Acevedo and Juan Camacho. Santos attended school in Puerto Rico and pursued a career in the hospitality industry. He worked at the Executive Plaza Hotel as a server for over forty years. He took pride in his work; and his ongoing commitment to high professional standards earned him many awards and accolades. Santos had the pleasure of serving many prominent guests--including Oprah Winfrey. Santos was also a professional songwriter and produced his original music. A variety of artists, including his daughter, Teresita, recorded many of his songs. "Mi Favorito" and "Sufriras" are two of his compositions that were recognized as the Best Original Songs by The Hispanic Music Awards in Chicago, IL. Additionally, Santos was a poet. He had the honor of having two of his works published in The Poetry Society of America, "The Human Race" and "Shiloh Is Coming." In 1953, Santos married Carmen Rodriguez and together they had three wonderful children, Norma, Rosemary, and James. Sadly, his wife passed away. On October 1, 1966, he then married Teresita Camacho (Tita) and they had a lovely daughter, Teresita (Bibi). He also loved his step-son, Angel as his own. He is remembered for his passion for music, his love for learning, and for gardening. He touched many lives with his infectious smile, wittiness, kindness, and generosity. He is survived by his eldest brother, Fabian, his former wife, five children, ten grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren with whom he loved spending time. Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life gathering on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Palms West Funeral Home and Crematory located at 110 Business Pkwy, Royal Palm Beach, FL. Interment Service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery located on 10941 Southern Blvd, Royal Palm Beach, FL 33411.
