Salvatore Castiglione born August 28,1936 in Grotte, Sicily passed in peace at home on July15, 2017 at the age of 80. He was a devoted husband for over 60 years, a wonderful father, and loving grandfather. He came to America as a young boy. Even at a young age, he could sense that America was going to be good to him, and he would be good to her. To help support his family in this land of opportunity, he immediately began to work. Working hard and tirelessly, at any job he could get. With each experience he gained knowledge, and created the solid foundation that would afford he and his family a wonderful life for many years to come. He kept his head down and worked tirelessly day after day, seldom taking time to enjoy the world around him. Until one day, he laid eyes on a beautiful angel. It was love at first sight, at that instant he knew there was so much more. And the story began, and as their family grew he was able to see what life is truly about – his family. The experiences they had and the memories made were priceless. He continued to work hard, and so enjoyed fixing things for everyone. He also supplied the materials. Before anyone ran to Home Depot, they would call Sal first. It was likely if you needed an electrical outlet he had a spare. If you needed an interior door, not only did he have one in his garage, but he had the exact size you needed. He would supply the materials and even help a neighbor install it. His garage reminded many of a time watching hundreds of clowns exit a tiny car at the circus. He loved to captivate an audience with stories of his life in the old country as a young boy. Everyone would sit and listen for as long as he would speak, quietly staring in awe as he spoke and laughing when he would laugh. Knowing much of his young American audience usually didn't understand half of what he was saying, they had to be staring in awe of the sparkle that would appear in his eyes as he would stroll down memory lane, and they were laughing because his laugh was contagious. When he lost is soulmate, he realized that he would never be whole again. He suffered greatly each and every day he walked this earth without her. He stayed back with us and held on so that our family would endure more pain. When he was confident that his children and grandchildren were going to be okay, he reflected on his life and the beautiful memories made, thanked God for the wonderful life he had. His life was now complete, he couldn't bear to suffer another day and passed peacefully so that he could join Frances the only place he knew he belonged. His is survived by his 2 children: Frank and Rosanne; grandchildren Kayla, Francesca and Salverio; daugther-in-law Sarita, son-in-law-Eduardo, his 3 brothers and 2 sisters, and many nieces, nephews, and lots of family and friends.
