Rosemarie Opperisano age 84, passed away peacefully on December 6,2012 at Wellington Regional Medical Center after a courageous battle with MDS and other serious health issues. Rosemarie was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1928. Daughter of Stephen Scotti and Rose Fischetti-Scotti, sister of Carmine Scotti. She enjoyed growing up in brown stone apts in the Park Slope section of Brookyn. She loved being surrouned by her large overbearing Italian family, was a great student and had many accomplishments at a young age. Her nickname was "Dolly". She grew up to be a strong determined woman of grit. She met and married the love of life, soul-mate and best friend husband John Opperisano on February 14th, 1950. They were happily married for 10 years , sadly due to a tragic accident in Brooklyn, New York, he died on December 16, 1960 . She was widowed at the very young age of 29, relocated her family and her parents to Massapequa, New York. She was a devoted mother to their three children Stephen Opperisano, Ann Mitchell and Lorraine Palladino. She was the the grandmother of Dr. Brian Mitchell, Kimberly Mitchell and Michelle Palladino. Her beloved, grand-daughter Kimberly predeasced her in April 2011. She was blessed to have her parents live with her and her children, so she could leave the only life she knew as a house-wife and mother to go out and enter the workforce. She obtained a position as a banker for a division of Grummans, the Bethpage Federal Credit Union for many years. She retired and enjoyed her life traveling, her favorite hobby "bingo", she enjoyed cooking and good times with family and friends. Her greatest joy, was watching her children and grandchildren grow and bragging about their many accomplishments. She relocated to Wellington, Florida in March 2010 to live closer to her loving family and deal with her many health issues. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Palm Beach Cancer Center for their exceptional care, the many family, friends who have provided daily prayers, comfort and encouragement over the years. You are all a blessing in our lives. She will be missed by so many and remain forever in our hearts. Safe Journey home Rosemarie! A celebration of her life will be held at Palms West Funeral Home in Royal Palm Beach on Friday Dec 14th. Wake viewing hours will be from 2-4 and 7-9. The funeral mass will be held at on 10:00 am at her parish of St Therese de Lisieux Catholic Church. She will then be flown home Farmingdale, NY for burial service at 10am in St Charles Cemetry. She will be laid to rest with her husband John.... Merry Christmas in heaven.
