Roman "Raul" Victor Sanchez

1939 – 2026

Roman Victor Sanchez, lovingly known as Raul, passed away on July 24, 2026, at the age of 86, at a hospital in West Palm Beach, Florida. Born in 1939 in Coronel Lorenzo de Garaicoa, Ecuador, Raul immigrated to the United States at the age of 28, where he met Bella Elsa Bonilla — a woman he always said God placed directly in his path.

Raul and Bella built a life together grounded in faith, hard work, and family. He was a proud father to three sons, Armando, Luis, and Alfredo, and cherished his role as a grandfather to seven grandchildren and great-grandfather to two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Alfredo, who passed away in May 2001.

Raul spent his career working in retail merchandising and maintenance, and he took genuine joy in it — he loved interacting with the people he worked alongside and the customers he served. Work was never just a job to him; it was purpose. He believed deeply in earning his own way and never accepting a handout, and he carried that conviction until the very end. In his later years, not being able to work and provide weighed on him — providing for his family was simply who he was.

Above all else, Raul's relationship with God came first. He could be found faithfully reading his Bible, and he lived his faith out loud through the way he treated others. He often shared his favorite piece of wisdom with his sons and grandchildren: "El que bien piensa, bien le va" — he who thinks well, things go well for him. It was more than a saying to him; it was how he tried to live.

Raul was a proud man, a devoted husband, a hardworking provider, and a role model to his sons and grandchildren. He was deeply loved by his family, and his family loved him just as fiercely in return.

Raul is survived by his wife, Bella Elsa Bonilla Sanchez; his sons, Armando and Luis Sanchez; his seven grandchildren; and his two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Alfredo Sanchez.
