Robert (Bob) Donald Russell, 81, of Wellington, FL, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2009. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Edmund and Sophie (Dorman) Russell. He was a graduate of James Madison High School in Brooklyn, NY and later served proudly in the United States Navy. Bob was an entrepreneur in the auto industry, best known for his creation of Option Plan, Inc., Autotech and Atlantic Rent-a-Car. He was responsible for the invention of rust-proofing automobiles by creating Polyglycoat and many other inventions, but he was most proud of his invention of the blood pressure chairs most commonly found in all major grocery stores and pharmacies. He had a love for people, music and great times. His favorite joys were a great Broadway show, the Jets football games and weekend jaunts on the family yacht, the "Mother Marian", to Fire Island as well as memorable family vacations in the Bahamas. He served as Commodore of the Long Island Yacht Club, Deacon of the First Presbyterian Church of Tequesta and was a member of the Southward Ho Country Club, Ballen Isles Country Club and Willoughby Country Club. Bob?s hobbies included backgammon, craps, poker and especially cooking, which he did out of his heart for the church and yacht club. Robert was a loving father to Donna (Gary) Smith, Rob Russell and Allison (Robert) Murrell and a cherished grandfather to his 10 grandchildren, Bryan Smith, Gregory Smith, John Wesley Russell, Matthew Russell, Rebecca Russell, Baxter Murrell, Marian Russell, Brooke Murrell, Ava Russell and Kyla Russell. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 43 years, Marian Amelia (Feltham) Russell, his son David Edmund Russell, brother Edmund Russell and sister Violet DiTomasso. A visitation will be held 3-5 PM on Thursday, December 10, 2009 with a service beginning at 4:30 PM at Palms West Funeral Home.
