Robert Owen Preston, 60 of Loxahatchee Groves, passed away suddenly August 29, 2016 as a result of an auto accident. He is survived by his children, Lara-Paige Preston Banks ( RJ), Ian Patrick Preston and their mother Elizabeth G. Preston, granddaughter, Freya Quinn Banks, brother Richard Preston, NH, father Charles B. Preston, NH, he was pre-deceased by his mother Evalyn M. Preston. He was born in Hartford, CT, and grew up spending summers in their home in Gilsum, NH. He was one of the youngest to earn the rank of Eagle Scout at the age of 12 and was always very proud of that! It is also remarkable that he had climbed all of the 4,000 foot mountains in NH by the age of seven. Robert graduated from Kingswood-Oxford School in West Hartford, CT and received his college degree in Automotive Engineering and Technology from State University of New York at Morrisville. He moved to Palm Beach County in 1978 and founded BABBSCO Collision and Towing, Inc. BABBSCO Towing, Inc. which continues to be owned and run by his family today. He was active in the collision industry on a national level when appointed to the committee that wrote the curriculum for ICAR which sets the standards of excellence for that industry. He served as State President of Automotive Service Association Collision Division for several years. He was also the founder of ODAT House of Lubbock, TX a clean and sober living facility. He had a heart for the suffering and made it his lifelong ministry to care for those that were in need and ignored. He loved scuba diving and sailing his sailboat "Swallow" named after a beloved book Swallows and Amazons. He was a lifelong member of The Fort at No.4 in Charlestown, NH, a living museum village that helps educate people about American History during the Revolutionary War period. He shared his love of history with his entire family. Robert attended Life.Church Wellington. He will be sorely missed by friends and family.
