Robert Monaco, fondly known to many as Bobby or Bob, passed away at the age of 71 in his Lake Worth, Florida residence on Thursday, March 12, 2026.
Born on October 30, 1954, in Queens, New York, to John and Barbara Monaco, Bob grew into a man defined by his integrity, generosity, and unwavering desire to do right by others. He is survived by his loving siblings Richard, Nancy, John, and James.
Bob shared a remarkable love story with his beloved wife, Vivian. They were married on September 5, 1976, in Franklin Square, New York, and remained happily devoted to one another for 47 years until her passing. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, adventure, and a deep appreciation for time spent side by side.
He was the proud father of his daughter, Monica Monaco Martin, Director of Mathematics for the Long Beach School District, who is married to Kirk Martin. Robert was an especially devoted and loving grandfather to his three grandchildren Derek, Cynthia, and Harrison who lovingly called him “Bobby.” Some of his most treasured moments were the summers spent with each of them during their individual visits, creating lasting memories at museums, pinball arcades, mini golf courses, and by the pool. Those special times brought him immense joy and pride. He also held a special place in his heart as godfather to Elizabeth Grillo, Beth Thompson, and Erica Statler.
A skilled auto mechanic by trade, Bob had a lifelong passion for cars and could often be found at car shows, admiring craftsmanship and connecting with fellow enthusiasts. He was also known for his eclectic watch collection, a reflection of his unique style and appreciation for detail.
Bob truly embraced life and all it had to offer. He loved traveling, listening to live bands, and trying new restaurants, always eager for his next great meal or experience. He had a natural gift for making friends wherever he went, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. His many hobbies included golf which was one of his greatest passions, bowling, billiards, darts, fishing, bird watching, swimming, and spending time at the range.
He and Vivian shared a love for simple yet meaningful pleasures, including their time as members of a Long Island winery club, where they spent Sundays learning about harvesting and winemaking while enjoying a bottle together.
Bob especially loved living in Florida, where he embraced the warmth and vibrancy of the community. He enjoyed outdoor concerts, Italian festivals, and quiet mornings on the porch with a cup of coffee.
Bob will be remembered as a kind, loyal, and spirited man. A true friend, a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, and someone who lived life fully and generously. His presence brought comfort, laughter, and strength to those around him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him. Although his loss is deeply felt, his family takes comfort in knowing that Bob is once again with his beloved Vivian, the love of his life, together again in eternal peace.
In lieu of flowers or plants, donations may be made in his name to the Anchor Program Fund Inc. by visiting campanchor.org and selecting “General Donations” under the “Get Involved” tab. Bobby always found joy in seeing the incredible programs Camp ANCHOR provided for children on the spectrum, especially for his grandson Derek.
