ROBERT EUGENE MATTOX Age 57, of Wellington, FL, passed away March 27, 2009 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Jacksonville, FL, January 14, 1952. He grew up in Fernandina Beach, FL where he graduated from high school in 1970. He graduated from UCF in 1977 with a degree in mechanical engineering and started his engineering career with General Electric as a field engineer in Chattanooga, TN. In 1981 he moved back to Florida to take a position as a plant engineer for Coca Cola Foods in Winter Haven and Plymouth. Bob and his family moved to Wellington in 1994 and he worked for the Sugar Cane Growers Co-op of FL in Belle Glade as a project engineer, retiring December of 2006. Bob enjoyed life to the fullest. He enjoyed camping, waterskiing, woodworking and riding his Harley motorcycle. He was very caring, compassionate and had unconditional love for his family and friends. He courageously fought his disease, Multiple System Atrophy, for the past five years, always with a positive attitude. He is survived by Kathleen Walters Mattox, his loving wife of 30 years; a son, John Mattox of Orlando; two daughters, Mary Mattox and Karen Mattox both of Orlando; granddaughter, Savannah Wilson; parents, Clifford and Mary Mattox of Yulee; brothers, Cliff (Becky) of Bradenton and Mike (Chris) of Atlanta; sister, Mary Duncum (Alan) of Fernandina Beach; brother in laws, Cline Walters of Apopka, Fred Walters (Rachel) of Punta Gorda, Michael Walters (Sattina) of Orlando and Douglas Walters (Stephanie) of Apopka; sister in laws, Mallory Walters of Apopka, Winnie Gordon (Heywood) of Mt. Dora and Patty Sue Griffin of Apopka, and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Peter's United Methodist Church, 12200 W. Forest Hill Blvd., Wellington, FL, on Tuesday, March 31 at 7:00 PM. A visitation will be held at Loomis Funeral Home, 420 W. Main Street, Apopka, FL, on Friday, April 3 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The Funeral Service will be held Saturday, April 4 at 11:30 AM at the First United Methodist Church of Apopka, 201 S Park Avenue, Apopka, FL. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL, 33407, www.hpbcf.org or to your favorite charity.
