Richard Thomas passed away Friday January 3, 2020 at the age of 96 in Wellington Florida. Richard was born in Leominster, MA on November 11, 1923 the only child of Helen (Wilder) Thomas and Rolland Thomas. He is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Evelyn (Wood) Thomas and his second wife of 17 years Natalie (Dickerson) Thomas, also by his daughter in law Diane Thomas and granddaughter in law Debra Thomas. He is survived by his sons David, Kenneth and his wife Pauline, William and his wife Patricia, and daughter in law Sharon. Also in New England Stepdaughter Elaine Carroll and her sons Devon and Shane. He also leaves behind 3 grandchildren Andrew, Christopher his wife Terri-Lynn and Evelyn as well as 2 step grandchildren Robin Lachance and Stephanie Hocza along with 2 great grandchildren Emily and Jason Thomas and 2 step great grandchildren Kali Lachance and Cameron Smith. Richard was a World War II veteran and served time overseas. After the war he worked for 31 years at Pratt Whitney in East Hartford, CT. He was a member of the Masons and a devote Christian active in the First Congregational Church both in Connecticut and Port St. Lucie Florida after he retired. He was an avid reader and enjoyed golf and traveling, he never missed an opportunity to spend time with his family. He loved family get togethers especially if the occasion was for him. He loved to play cards and sing in the Barbershop Quartet. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known him. Richard will be honorably interred at South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth on Monday, March 2, 2020 at 1:00 PM. If you plan on attending, please arrive 15 minutes prior to service and kindly line up in Lane 3.
