Richard "Rick" F. Sherer

October 27, 1950 — October 20, 2025

Richard F. Sherer, 74, of Royal Palm Beach, Florida, tragically lost his life on October 20, just one week shy of his 75th birthday, due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Born and raised in Fairlawn, New Jersey, Rick spent several years with his family in Montague, New Jersey before settling in Florida more than 36 years ago. Wherever he went, he built strong connections and lasting friendships. Rick was a proud veteran having served his country during the Vietnam war in the United States Navy as a machinist. His time in the service was a source of deep pride and lifelong camaraderie. He is survived by his loving wife, Amy Benham, and was widowed by his first wife, Lorraine Sherer. He also leaves behind his daughter Lisa Allen and her husband Jon, and their daughters Ivy and Maxine; and his son Richard Sherer, Jr. and his wife Rachel, and their daughter Addison. He also leaves his sisters Judy Sherer and Jeanne Brown and her husband Bob, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family who will forever hold him close in their hearts. Richard had a passion for the open road and loved nothing more than riding his motorcycle. Above all else, he cherished time spent with his granddaughters, who brought immense joy and light to his life. If you knew him, you loved him. A memorial service celebrating Rick's life will be held at Palms West Funeral Home on November 3, 2025, at 12:30 PM with a gathering at 11:45 AM,, followed by a procession to the South Florida National Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest with military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Tunnel to Towers Foundation in his memory, an organization that he strongly supported.
