Ray Baker, a native of Ballarat, Victoria Australia passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 13, 2007. Ray is survived by his wife, Deirdre Baker; sister, Faye Gordon; brother, Max Baker and hundreds of loving friends. Ray Baker devoted his life to the world of ballroom dance. With his amateur partner Deirdre, (later to become his wife), Ray began his dance career by competing in the Latin and Standard disciplines, eventually to represent his native Australia in the Standard World Championship, 10-Dance World Championship and the World Show Dance Competition. Ray concluded his amateur career after winning the Australian Championship in the International Standard Division. In 1976 Ray turned professional and relocated to London. During his years in the United Kingdom, Ray and his professional partner/wife performed shows and won Championship titles throughout Europe, Australia, the United States and Singapore. Ray continued his love and devotion to ballroom by becoming a qualified championship adjudicator; he is licensed in the United States, United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Holland and Switzerland. The memorial service in honor of Ray Baker will be held at Palm West Funeral Home, Saturday Nov 24th 2007 at 1:00 PM (please arrive between 12:30 and 12:45) In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the ?Ray Baker Scholarship?, Palm West Funeral Home, 110 Business Parkway, Royal Palm Beach FL 33411
