Ray Keith, a 31-year-old lieutenant with Delray Beach Fire Rescue, died Wednesday, October 18, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. Born Nov. 15, 1991 in Brooklyn, NY to Ray and Ida Keith, he is survived by his mother, his wife Amanda, son Gabriel, 12, son Kairo and daughter Willow, both 2. He was pre-deceased by his father. Lt. Keith began serving the residents of Delray Beach in October 2016 and was one of the department's first 21 lieutenants promoted to serve as an officer on a rescue company. He was certified in hazardous materials, was a member of the DBFR Honor Guard and was a leader for the DBFR Explorer program. He was named the 2022 Firefighter of the Year. He will be laid to rest with full honors. There will be a viewing from 5 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, at Palms West Funeral Home, 110 Business Park Way, Royal Palm Beach. The funeral service will be from 10 a.m. – noon, Thursday, Oct. 26, at Christ Fellowship Church, 9905 Southern Blvd., Royal Palm Beach, followed by a burial at Our Lady Queen of Peace cemetery, 10941 Southern Blvd., Royal Palm Beach. In lieu of flowers, donations for the Keith family will be accepted at the Delray Beach Firefighters Benevolent page online or by mailing a check to P.O. Box 6805, Delray Beach, FL 33482.
