Phyllis Novet

Age 93 of Royal Palm Beach, FL passed away December 19, 2019. Born in Brooklyn, NY survived by her husband Norman, daughter Brandie and son Alan, grandchildren Jordan and Dara and great grandchild Elijah. Phyllis received her Bachelor's degree from Long Island University in 1948 after which she held various positions within the medical field. She worked in histology at the New York Infirmary for Women and Children and at New York General Hospital, and Sloan Kettering Memorial Hospital where she worked in pathology. Phyllis was trained by Dr. Georgios Papanikolaou who she referred to as "Dr. Paps". She later worked in the biology lab at Sarah Lawrence College Cochran School of Nursing where she taught biology and tutored nurses. Phyllis later worked at National Health Labs and LabCorp in the area of cytology. Mom loved to travel. She was a free spirit who travelled with dear friends to Europe, the Caribbean and South America. As children we travelled as a family from Canada to South Florida. Mom enjoyed rock hunting with her children and grandchildren. Mom was an artist. She enjoyed the vastness of the sky and the intensity and the colors of the clouds. She painted many pictures. I hold a fond memory as a child chasing a rainbow's end with her looking for that pot of gold. Mom was a very loving person, she had a witty sense of humor, making people laugh. She had many stories to share and a calming nature, always lending an ear to others. She did not have a green thumb, but she enjoyed beautiful flowers. Mom also enjoyed creating and going to tea parties. Mom will be very dearly missed by those she touched and loved throughout her life. We love you, forever and always.
