PHYLENA PEYTON HAYNES 86, of Loxahatchee Groves was called home by her heavenly Father at sunrise on May 22, 2010. She was born at her home in Choctow County, MS on May 21, 1924 to L. DeWitt and Lillie Belle Peyton. Upon high school graduation, Phylena moved to Washington, DC to work in the Pentagon for the war effort. In Washington, she met and married her handsome soldier, Lloyd Haynes. After the war, they moved to Horseheads, NY and raised a family. Phylena was the assistant village clerk of Horseheads. By 1972, they had endured too many cold winters, so they moved their family to South Florida. Upon retirement, Lloyd and Phylena traveled extensively in their motor home, visiting 49 states and all of the Canadian provinces. PhylenaÕs devotion to her family and friends was the primary focus of her life. She always placed their needs ahead of her own. She cherished time with her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Lloyd, her children: Nancy Gage, Allen Haynes (Pat), Sharon Burkhardt (Vince), and Dennis Haynes (Lorelle), 14 grandchildren, 16 great grand children, and 12 great, great grandchildren, two sisters: Nita Burrough and Faye Busby, four sisters-in-law: Pearl Sutphen, Beatrice Bixby, and Irene and Sarah Peyton, and many other family members and dear friends. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, May 25 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with internment following at the South Florida National Cemetery.
