Peter Joseph Yackulics of Wellington, FL passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at the age of 73. Peter was born in Norwalk, CT on March 19, 1950 to John J. Yackulics and Elizabeth Klipp Yackulics. Peter was the second of three children including his older brother John (Johnny) and younger sister Margaret (Marge). He enjoyed sports growing up, and played ice hockey and skied in the winter, and enjoyed swimming and boating in the summer on the Connecticut coast. School was difficult for Peter (much to the chagrin of his parents who were both educators), and he didn't learn until adulthood that he had a form of dyslexia which made reading difficult and spelling impossible. Despite those difficulties however, he went on to graduate from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, MD in 1972 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and Stanford University in Stanford, CA where he earned his Master of Fine Arts in 1974. While he enjoyed all facets of art and design, his focus at Stanford was sculpture, and he created large installations crafted in acrylic, many of which incorporated light, movement and sound. After graduation he worked briefly at the Stanford Art Gallery before returning home to Connecticut where he went to work for Bozak Loudspeakers crafting concert hall speaker systems and furthering his interest in electronics and design. After leaving Bozak, he went to work at Sonitrol in Stamford, CT where he would meet Pamela Todd his future wife. Pete and Pam began their life together in 1980, and were married on June 19, 1982. In 1984 they relocated to Florida and Pete went to work for Sonitrol in W. Palm Beach, before taking a position with Sonitrol Corporation (now Advantor Systems Corp) in Orlando in 1990 where he remained employed until his passing. Pete loved his job, his co-workers, and the opportunity for world travel and connection that his position afforded. Most of all though, Pete loved his family and he was tremendously proud and supportive of each of his three sons. When the boys joined Boy Scouts, Pete became an enthusiastic scout leader in Troop 125. He enjoyed camping and high adventure activities and he and the boys shared many wonderful trips. Since he traveled so much for work, he relished family vacations and holidays with extended family and was (almost) always up for whatever activities Pam had planned! He enjoyed museums, eating out and the unique experiences that a particular destination had to offer. Pete is survived by his wife of 40 years Pamela Todd Yackulics of Wellington, FL, son John Yackulics of Wellington, FL, son Michael Yackulics of Wellington, FL, and son Taylor Yackulics of Winter Garden, FL. Peter is also survived by his sister Margaret Yackulics of Pittsburgh, PA. mother-in-law Linda Todd, sisters-in-law Jodi Todd and Lisa LaChance, brothers-in-law Scott Todd (Lisa), and Steve Todd (Krista), nephews Connor Todd and Daniel Todd, niece Nicole Todd and numerous cousins. Peter was preceded in death by his parents, John J. and Elizabeth Klipp Yackulics, his brother John Yackulics, father-in-law John Todd and brother-in-law James R. LaChance. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
