Peter Wald Glick

October 13, 1943 — January 3, 2013

"Life is not a dress rehearsal!" These words expressed Peter's sincere belief that one should live every day as if it were the last, always preparing for a better day tomorrow. Peter Wald Glick, 69, a resident of Wellington, Florida, passed away at home Thursday afternoon, January 3, 2013 after a prolonged illness with MS for 22 years. Peter was born on October 13, 1943 in Cornwall, New York, the son of William J. Glick and Miriam Wald Glick. He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Glick Stites of Duluth, Minnesota, his brother, Michael B. Glick of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, a niece, Melissa and twin nephews, Dan and Chip Glick, all children of Michael. He is also survived by his former wife, Ilene Glick Barkan of New York City and her niece, Natalie Tilayoff of Boca Raton. He was beloved and is sorely missed by his best friends, colleagues and business partners, David Field and Clayton Pitts, with whom he lived in Wellington since moving here in September, 2003. Some years ago, David and Clayton promised Peter that he would never have to leave home for intensive care. All three friends were thankful that this promise has been fulfilled. Peter was a scholarship musician in the marching band at the University of Miami spending his time off from playing the baritone to serve as a pledge master for his fraternity. After school Peter pursued a career in music in New York City, varying his career from stints as the Vice President of Music Publishing for the Richmond Organization, Vice President of Artist and Repertory for Polydor Records, several Music Agency positions and often taking on the entrepreneurial role of manager of music artists. He was the manager of Looking Glass when they released their hit record, "Brandy", was the manager of Joe Beck when Joe arranged and produced several tunes for Frank Sinatra, and prepared a number of other artists for their recording careers working with his close friend, Clayton. While he was serving as a music industry executive, Peter was unfortunately caught up in the recreational use of drugs, especially cocaine. As a distinct move to rehabilitate his participation in high living society, Peter decided to stop "cold turkey", resigned from the music industry, gave up all his friends, and purchased a NY City Yellow Cab. For the next five years, Peter drove a taxi full time and had many fascinating tales to share about his cab driving experiences. He was proud of his ability to stop taking drugs, and openly shared his experience based on the theory of giving up all your friends who partake and moving forward with life by starting new friendships with only those involved in sober living. Even after moving to Wellington, where no one knew of his previous drug experience, Peter would openly share his successful recovery process as part of his continuing stability to maintain being clean. After becoming confident that he was ready to join the business world once more, Peter became the CFO of Partners Financial Group, a computer consulting group in New York City where he joined forces with Clayton Pitts and David Field in a successful consulting practice that included such clients as the New England Journal of Medicine, the National Association of Television Advertisers and the Philadelphia Bar Association.. In 2004, Peter, Clayton and David joined the Wellington Chamber of Commerce with their company, Sales Automation Group. The SAG Team were one of the first to consult with national clients over the Internet without having to have their team present. The SAG Group of consultants included system analysts and other management level consultants from Tucson, Atlanta, New Jersey, and London all coordinated via the SAG Team's project management software and on-line meetings. Peter participated in projects that included the United States Council of International Business and Florida Bankers Association. While common now, this was ground breaking technology in 2004. Peter retired from full time participation in the business as his MS began to take hold in the fall of 2010. For the last several years, his condition worsened with the addition of stenosis of the lumbar region to the point where he was paralyzed from the waist down from early 2012. Perhaps the most outstanding trait of this generous and kind man was the fact that he never once complained, "Why me?" in the 22 year progression of his crippling illness. Even in the last two weeks, he was discussing optimistically some new treatments that might help his condition. Unfortunately the stenosis caused extreme pain and for the last two years of his life; pain management was the central challenge. While we are all going to miss our dear friend, we also are thankful for the fact that his suffering has ended. Peter, God loves you and so do we! Rest well, our friend. With the cost of his long illness, Peter had nothing left in savings. We sadly have to relate that Peter's Life Insurance had limiting clauses that negated anything available to cover the funeral and cremation expenses. Therefore, in lieu of flowers or other memorials, Peter is the charity that needs donations from friends who are remembering him. We are requesting that friends donate a memorial gift to the expenses of his cremation and memorial service by sending your gift directly to: Clayton Pitts or David Field 11592 White Marsh Drive Wellington, FL 33414 Phone: (561) 204-5787 Email Clayton: cpitts@pfg21.com Email David: dfield@pfg21.com
