Patrick Anthony Christie ("Pops", " The Professor", "DJ Patrick" , "PP", "Old Man"), was born on the 31st October, 1958 in Kingston, Jamaica to Phyllis Francis and Courtney Christie.
He attended Melrose Primary School at which he obtained a full scholarship to attend Calabar High School for boys. Upon graduation, he migrated to join his mother in Baltimore, Maryland where he continued his studies. Subsequently, Patrick and his Mom relocated to Brooklyn, NY and were joined by other family members.
Patrick worked for Chase Manhattan Bank (now JP Morgan Chase) for over 35 years in several roles including Vice President. He went on to work for HSBC in the role of Assets Manager, before retiring and relocating to Florida.
Throughout the long years as a banker, Patrick had a concurrent career as a DJ. This was Patrick's true Iove and he worked at many well-known clubs and venues in New York and other places. He met his wife Patricia on one such occasions and, until the time of his passing, they enjoyed listening, dancing and exploring all genres of music together.
Patrick was known for his quiet presence with a naturally gorgeous smile that rivalled any Hollywood actor's smile. He was kind and helpful in whatever capacity he functioned. At work, he worked hard and was honest, dependable and worked well with all. He was good to all his friends and was well respected by all. Patrick was a reliable source for his DJ colleagues and was given the name "The Professor" because he would spend hours researching, compiling and imparting information to them. He would, many times, prepare play lists for them to live stream. He found the act of sharing quite enjoyable. The common thread that has been said by all is that he was a wonderful man who touched everyone he met in a positive manner. A rare trait that Patrick possessed was his ability to forgive. This contributed greatly to the success of his marriage and the longevity of the relationships he had with friends and colleagues.
Patrick is survived by his wife Patricia, son Jordan Patrick, daughter Reneé, son-in-law Marville, grandchildren Brandon, Liam, Isabella and Amelia, sister-in-law Donna, many cousins including Lilace (Auntie Cherry), Sharon, Arthur, Java Emmanuel and lots of friends and colleagues.
Patrick was preceded in death by his parents and aunts Marie and Blossom.
Although Patrick and Patricia were together for almost 40 years their love never grew stale. They were still in love with each other up to the end. Patrick was a devoted and respectful husband who took his wedding vows seriously. He never once gave Patricia cause to question or doubt his love and sincerity. He would often tell her in a gleeful way that he had "signed papers for her". They were always together even when they were not physically together. To Patricia, Patrick was her everything: best friend, boyfriend, husband, provider, handyman, lizard catcher, protector, confidant and wingman.
Patrick adored his children and grandchildren. He was very proud of Renee's achievements and proud of the man Jordan was becoming. Patrick was quick to support, assist and correct them. He enjoyed running the streets and hanging out in Home Depot with Marville. Training Brandon to become a DJ was nostalgic. He celebrated Liam’s academic achievements and loved to see and hear videos of his grand daughter’s prowess playing soccer.
Patrick's untimely passing has left such a gap hole in the lives of his family and friends that it will be impossible to fill. However, the wonderful experiences that we all shared with him will provide us with a bit of solace to ease the pain. Patrick will remain forever imprinted on our hearts.
