Omer Clayton Williamson August 25, 1928 – June 25, 2011 Omer Clayton Williamson was born August 25, 1928 in Commerce Georgia to his father O.C. Williamson and mother Mary Smith, both deceased. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Jean Williamson; his daughters Terry (Steve) Monteith and Amy (Matthew) Marks and their children Mila & Matthew Monteith and Mae & Emma Marks; his brother Lamar (Helen) Williamson and his nephews Steven Williamson, Keith Williamson, Wayne Williamson, and their families; his sister-in-law Coralee Dailey and her family. Omer served in the U.S. Merchant Marines for 2 years and then began his career at Liberty Mutual Insurance in Philadelphia where he met Carolyn Brown. In 1961, they married and built their home in Miami. He also became a small business owner taking over the Coral Gables Garage from his father. He was an active member, and then President of the South Miami Jaycees. He continued his career in the automotive industry for 30 years until his retirement in 1994. But he never stopped working. He was proud to be part of the Miami Dade Parks and Recreation Department at Briar Bay Golf Club for 16 more years, continuing his passion for South Florida, the outdoors and golfing. Omer, Clayton, Clay or OC as his friends and family knew him was also a hunter, a fisherman, a locksmith and a Distinguished (Golf) Club Maker. But most importantly he was a loving, loyal, outspoken, witty, strong, and brave husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend. We are grateful for his life with us and will remember and miss him every day. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday June 30 at 2 pm at Olympia Heights United Methodist Church (3801 SW 97th Avenue, Miami). In lieu of flowers, his family asks that donations be made to the American Lung Association (www.lungsusa.org) or the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org).
