Nicholas Joseph Sperrazza, 98, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. He was born on November 29, 1927 in Buffalo, New York. He was blessed with a large family that consisted of four siblings (three sisters and one brother) and was raised by proud Sicilian parents.
Nicholas served in the United State Army during the Korean War, attaining the rank of Corporal. After faithfully serving his country, he returned home and married the love of his life, Mary Judith, with whom he is now joyfully reunited.
Known for his strong work ethic, Nicholas drew inspiration from his immigrant parents’ determination to build a successful life in America. He worked as the owner and operator of R & S Construction by day and as a skilled welder by night. After retiring in 1984, he relocated to South Florida where he enjoyed the next chapter of his life.
Nicholas, fondly called “Papa”, will be remembered for his deep love of family and his ability to find joy in life’s simple pleasures. He spent much of his time outdoors and could often be found sitting at B Road, enjoying coffee and sharing crackers with his dog, or driving his Bobcat, lawn mower, or golf cart around to see what mischief he could get himself into.
We will forever cherish the many lessons, memories, and traditions Papa passed down to us — from how to build or repair almost anything with a roll of duct tape to introducing us to the unique foods he loved. We will never forget the smell of tripe cooking, one of his favorite meals. Most memorable of all was his heartfelt advice on life and the encouragement he gave us to accomplish our dreams.
Nicholas is survived by his daughter, Angela (David) Lueke; his son, Charles (Linette) Sperrazza; his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ritas Catholic Church, 13645 Paddock Dr., Wellington, FL. 33414. Interment will follow at Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery, 10941 Southern Blvd., Royal Palm Beach, FL. 33411.
