Nelly Ramos was born on March 14, 1958 in Perth Amboy, N.J, the third child of her parents, Leonardo (Nayo) Ramos and Geronima (Gery) Diaz. She was raised in New Jersey until 1970 when the family moved to Levittown, Puerto Rico. There Nelly graduated from Pedro Albizu Campos High School. While attending high school Nelly received voice lessons from a famous musical group, Los Andinos. Singing became her passion and she went on to perform solos at her high school functions. Among those performances she sang one of her favorite songs, PRECIOSA. Upon graduating high school Nelly decided to further her education by returning to New Jersey and attending Brookdale Community College. While attending college in 1981 she got married. Once married, Nelly had the opportunity to live in Germany and travel throughout Europe. Amazed by the beauty of Europe she never forgot how much she loved it. After returning to the United States in 1982 she gave birth to her only son, Christian Jimenez. As a single mother, Nelly raised her only child in central Jersey where he graduated and went on to further his education in Florida. Nelly's professional career began at Middlesex County College, followed by Devry Institute of Technology and culminated as a Senior Community Program Specialist for the State of New Jersey, Juvenile Justice Commission. She worked closely with juveniles and their families, helping them adjust back into society. She successfully transformed the lives of many youth throughout central Jersey. Nelly retired from the state of New Jersey in 2016 and moved to Florida to live with her son and his beautiful family. Nelly was a resilient mother, daughter, grandmother and sister who was very close to her family. She raised her only child with traditional values and encouraged him to focus on his future success. She did a wonderful job raising her child who today is a model son, father and husband. Today, Christian is a Sergeant with the Sheriff's Office of Palm Beach County, Florida. Our Nelly is best remembered for her love of family, love of friends and her love of music. She was the star performer at family functions by singing their favorite tunes. She lit up the room with her voice, her beautiful smile and her great sense of humor. Our hearts are broken but she will live forever in our hearts.
