Nathaniel Johnson was born in Andros, Bahamas on December 19, 1923, to the late Mary Johnson and Reginald George Christie, whom later moved to Nassau, Bahamas. As a young man he moved to the United States and decided to join the Army where he served in World War ll. He was a Machinist in Detroit, Michigan for GMC before retiring and eventually moving to Boynton Beach, Florida. Nathaniel later moved to Century Village, in West Palm Beach, FL, where he served on the Homeowner Association Board, and he was also featured in the Century Village Newspaper in 2013, after he received a Medal of Honor from President Barack Obama in Miami Beach, FL. To many family and friends Nathaniel, was affectionately called "Flaggy", "Jitterbug" in his younger days and later 'Nate', 'Uncle Nate' or 'Mr. Johnson'. He loved being around and helping people, laughing, telling stories about his younger days, going to the race track, playing board games and spending time with his family and friends. On Sunday, September 9, 2018, he transitioned peacefully at Arden Court, West Palm Beach, FL where he resided. He leaves to cherish his memories four siblings: Leroy Wilson, Eva Glinton, Richard M. Treco and Charles A. Christine all of Nassau, Bahamas; a host of nieces and nephews: including Delores Robinson of Rockville, Maryland; Chrystal Glinton of Nassau, Bahamas; Marion Christie-Campbell and Florence Christie-Randall of Fort Lauderdale, FL; a host of grand nieces and nephews: including Theresa Robinson of Rockville, Maryland; Carol (Quincy) Osborne of Delray Beach, FL; a devoted longtime friend and Caregiver Sheila Fagu of West Palm Beach, FL; and a host of other relatives and friends. Viewing will be held Friday, September 21st, 2018 from 10:00 am to 11:45 am with the funeral service immediately following, starting 11:45 am at Palms West Funeral Home, 110 Business Park Way, Royal Palm Beach, FL 33411. Burial service will be at South Florida National Cemetery, Lake Worth. The family would like to thank the staff at Veterans Administration, Trustbridge Hospice of Palm Beach County, Sage Team and Arden Courts for their attention and support through this difficult time.
