Nancy Thompson Tisdale

July 23, 1928 — September 5, 2022

Nancy T. Tisdale July 23, 1928 – September 5, 2022 It is with great sadness that I share the passing of my mother, Nancy Ann Winston Thompson Tisdale on September 5, 2022, at Vitas Community Life and Inpatient Center at Delray Beach (Fla.) She was 94 years young. Nancy was born in Berwick, Penna., on July 23, 1928, to George E. Thompson and Florence Isobel Keefe Thompson. After graduating from Berwick High School, she attended Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons School of Nursing. She became a registered nurse in 1949 and joined the U.S. Air Force in 1950 as a Flight Nurse. While serving, she met and married my father, Robert S. "Bob" Tisdale, USN, in Hawaii. They had two children, Todd and Kim. Through the Air Force and my father, Nancy travelled the world. As we grew, Todd and I joined them. Nancy also worked as a registered nurse while we were growing up and helped with activities that Todd and I were involved in including the Boy Scouts and Girls Scouts. After Bob retired from the US Navy, the family moved to Alexandria, Va., where Nancy enjoyed playing bridge with her good friends, volunteering at the White House Greetings Office, and working at the local hospital. Once Todd moved to Wellington, Fla., in 1986 after earning a PhD at the University of Virginia, Nancy and Bob became "snowbirds" by heading south to visit him each winter. I moved to Florida in 1989. And in 2006, mom and dad moved there permanently. In Florida, Nancy enjoyed her time attending events with Bob, playing bridge with her new friends, going to the Wellington Seniors Club, and playing with their dogs and my cats. Nancy was a wonderful mother – loving, kind, generous. She was passionately loyal to family and friends and was always there for them. Nancy is survived by me … her daughter, Kim.
