Myrian Gomez Sosa, 85, passed peacefully into heaven on September 9, 2025, after a courageous battle with Cancer. She left behind a legacy of faith, music, and service that touched countless lives. Born on November 8, 1939, in Colón, Matanzas, Cuba, to Eduardo Gomez and Celia Davila Gomez. Myrian grew up with a passion for learning and the arts. She graduated from La Escuela Normal in Cuba with a degree in early education, becoming a beloved teacher known for her warmth and dedication. A gifted pianist, Myrian shared her musical talents through teaching and performances, enchanting students and audiences alike. From a young age, Myrian shined as a performer in her hometown, captivating audiences with her involvement in a thespian group affiliated with the Catholic Church. Her love for the Church deepened in her mid-30s when she helped establish the Hispanic Catholic Charismatic Renewal in her diocese. For 30 years, she served as the liaison to the Bishop, guiding the renewal with grace and devotion. Myrian's faith was her cornerstone, expressed through her leadership, weekly prayer ministry to the sick and oppressed, and her cherished role leading the choir at St. Rita's Catholic Church every Sunday. Her music and ministry were a beacon of hope and love for her community. Myrian's life was enriched by her 62-year marriage to her devoted husband, Angel Sosa, whose love and support were her foundation. She is survived by her daughters, Ivonne Sherman (Terry) and Ivette Jardines (Ruben); her grandchildren, TJ, Rachel, Steven, Christopher, and Jacob; her great-granddaughters, Lorelai and Isabella; and her sister, Teresa Gomez. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eduardo Gomez and Celia Davila Gomez. Myrian's life was a testament to her unwavering faith, boundless generosity, and the joy she found in serving God and His people. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, through the melodies she played, the prayers she offered, and the love she shared so freely. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Rita's Catholic Church on Monday, September 15, 2025 at 1:00 pm with Burial to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
