Mildred Kapteyn Bouwsma passed away peacefully on July 10, 2012, at the age of 86 after a 15 year battle with bone marrow cancer. Milly was born in Dorr, MI and graduated from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI. When she walked into a classroom, Frank Bouwsma said, "This is it" and so it was. Milly sat behind him and saw two different socks and said "That guy needs help" and so it was….for 64 years it was. Milly was an Elementary School Teacher for 37 years. An editorial in the Miami Herald noted "She pours it right into your brain." She moved to Wellington, FL from Miami in 1992 and retired to spend time with her children and grandchildren. Wellington people honked their horns when they saw her on her corner of Forest Hill and 441 with her sign. "Please Save America for Grandkids" She is survived by her loving husband Frank Bouwsma, their two children, David (Lisa) Bouwsma of Miami, FL, and Nancy (Greg) Smith of Orlando, FL, and grandchildren, Mark Smith, Rachel (Sean) Barry, Jennifer Bouwsma, Peter Bouwsma, Jonathan Bouwsma, and Jessica Bouwsma. The family will receive friends at Palms West Funeral Home, 110 Business Park Way, Royal Palm Beach, FL 33411, on Saturday, July 14, 2012, from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM, for visitation.
