Michael "Mike" Loffredo, 77, of Lake Worth, Florida, passed away on Friday, June 2, 2017 at JFK hospital. A viewing will be held on Sunday, June 11 from 3-5pm at Palms West Funeral Home, 110 Business Park Way, Royal Palm Beach, FL 33411. A church service will be held on Tuesday, June 13 at 11am at Bethesda by the Sea, 141 S County Rd, Palm Beach, FL 33480. Following the church service there will be a reception. Due to his passion towards education, the family is asking that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Greenacres Kiwanis Club Foundation Scholarship Fund in the name of Michael Loffredo (Attn: Kathyrn Johnson, 6651 Lake Worth Rd, Lake Worth, FL 33467). Mike was born in Yonkers, NY and grew up in Hollywood, FL. He was employed in a variety of law enforcement posts throughout his lifetime as a state trooper, a special agent, supervisor and Agent in charge within various organizations (Florida Highway Patrol, US Army Criminal Investigation Command, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and Director of Public Safety for the Town of Jupiter Island). He taught criminal justice and sociology classes at Lynn University, Pepperdine University, South University and Keiser University and most recently served on the Palm Beach County Ethics Commission. Mike received his Ph.D. of Philosophy in Criminal Justice Education from Union University and attended the FBI National Academy in 1973. His professional affiliations include: Florida Police Chiefs Association, Palm Beach County Police Chiefs Association, Treasure Coast Police Chiefs Association (and Past President), FBI National Academy (Florida Chapter Past President); Palm Beach County Criminal Justice Commission (founding member), Reserve Officers Association (US Army), Fraternal order of Police, FBI National Academy Associates, American Legion, International Narcotic Association and was active in the Greenacres Kiwanis Club. Married 40 years, he is survived by his wife Karen, two daughters: Lisa and Catherine, his two sons: Michael and Joseph, and four grandchildren: Justin, Bre, Angelina and Lora. His love for his family was immeasurable, both in its strength and legacy. He was a mentor to many and a man of great character. He was never happier than when he was spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
