Michael Walter Jost

Michael Walter Jost, born October 7, 1950 passed away on June 11, 2024 at the age of 73, after suffering complications from a heart attack. Mike was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Evelyn (McNamara) and Walter Jost. He married the love of his life, Joanne (Florentino) Jost in 1978 and had two children, Jennifer (Jost) Glinski and Ryan Jost. Right out of High School Mike joined the NYC Police Department. He quickly worked his way up to Detective working in the 79th & 113th Precincts. He also found time to be a volunteer firefighter for the Uniondale Fire Department and North Massapequa Fire Department. After retiring, his dream was to move to Florida to enjoy many outdoor activities such as golfing and fishing. He ended up getting involved with the sport of Polo and working as the Director of Security at International Polo Club for 25 years. Not a man to sit around, he jumped at the chance to spend the summers working as Director of Security at Camp Echo Lake in Warrensburg, NY. Mike was a devoted Husband, Father and Grampie but also a mentor to many. He was the ultimate story teller and party planner. He thoroughly enjoyed spending his days with his family and life long friends. Mike would want his life celebrated by having a cocktail in his honor. Mike is proceeded in death by his Mother, Evelyn (McNamara) Jost, Father, Walter Jost and Aunt, Dorothy (McNamara) Habermann. Mike is survived by his wife, Joanne (Florentino), children, Jennifer (Scott) Glinski and Ryan (Bridget) Jost. His Granddaughter's- Addison, Ava, Aubree & Charlotte. Brother, Richard (Debbie) Jost and many nieces, nephews, and family members.
