Dr. Michael Joseph Ileo passed from our world on May 26th at 74 years of age. He was a loving husband and father and is survived by his wife, Andrea, and his son, Michael Joel. Services will be held at Palms West Funeral Home in Royal Palm Beach, FL and in Richmond, VA at a later date. Following military service in the Air Force, Michael received his bachelors (1965) and masters (1967) degrees in economics from the University of Rhode Island. He obtained his PhD in economics from VA Tech in 1972. He taught economics at several universities, including the University of Rhode Island and Virginia Commonwealth University. Michael had a long and distinguished career in economic consulting with Technical Associates, Inc., a firm he co-founded in 1970. He was a nationally-recognized expert on a variety of economic topics regarding public utilities, insurance companies, healthcare and automobile dealerships. Over his consulting career, he authored hundreds of economic reports and studies. He appeared as an expert witness in hundreds of cases before many state and federal regulatory commissions, as well as state and federal courts. He served as President of Technical Associates from 1972 until his "retirement" in 2006. Actually, Michael never retired from Technical Associates; rather he moved his office to Florida and continued to work daily until his passing. He will be remembered by his clients and colleagues as a tireless worker. He was very analytical and had a unique ability to quickly comprehend complex economic issues and develop comprehensive solutions. Michael was an avid sports fan and loved the Boston Celtics and Red Sox. In addition, he followed and attended VA Tech football regular season and bowl games. He played baseball as a teenager (and in fact was offered a baseball scholarship to Arizona State). He coached his son, Michael, (who inherited Dad's baseball genes) in Little League for several years. He was also passionate about his yard. He would say yard work was his "therapy". Michael Ileo was a very loved and very well respected man. He will be sorely missed. In lieu of flowers, Michael's family is requesting that, instead, you donate to one of his two favorite charities in his name: VWF (Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States), PO Box 8911, Topeka, KS 66608-9940 Ph: 1-816-756-3390 ext.6318 Ph: 1-888-690-7722 (SPCA) www.vfw.org OR SPCA: www.spcai.org
