Michael A Fitzgerald

Michael Anthony Fitzgerald, 58, passed away at his home on Sunday June 21, 2020, after a long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family and friends. Michael was born in Woodside, New York on February 13, 1962, the eldest son of Thomas and Catherine Fitzgerald. Michael played football for Clearwater Central Catholic High School, where he graduated in 1980. He attended St. Petersburg Junior College and moved to West Palm Beach, where he had a long career as an air conditioning foreman. Michael was a beloved son, father, brother, partner, stepfather and friend. He is survived by his daughters, Marianne Fitzgerald, 17, an upcoming freshman at Palm Beach Atlantic University, and Marilin Fitzgerald, 16, an upcoming junior at Forest Hill High School. He is also survived by Sofia Alderete, 19, a sophomore at the University of Central Florida. He is survived by his fiancée, Elizabeth Alderete, who was the love of his life and his angel. Michael is also survived by his four younger brothers - Patrick, Thomas, Edward, John Paul, and their families. Michael was an avid fisherman, an amazing chef and outdoorsman. He loved his Irish heritage, visiting the Morikami Museum and the Juno Pier, traveling, listening to country music, cooking and being with this family. Michael was generous and honest, a peacemaker and a handsome gentleman. A private funeral will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 27, 2020 at St. Rita Catholic Church in Wellington, Florida.
