Michael Edward FIllichio (Mike) was born in Oak Park, IL on October 27, 1938 to Michael (Dutch) and Angeline (Peg nee Corino) Fillichio. He is survived by his wife Marylou Fillichio (nee Wilkinson), his daughter Susan (Susie) FIllichio (Mike Davisson), his son Michael A. Fillichio, his beloved granddaughter Alexandra (Alex) Davisson, his sister Patricia (Patrish) Harty, and his brother-in-law John Navigato. He was predeceased by his sister Jeanine Navigato. Mike also leaves behind many loved nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews all of whom will miss him immensely. Mike attended Fenwick High School in Oak Park, IL, earning all city and all state recognition as the captain of the football team. He received a full scholarship to the University of Michigan. There he played for the Wolverine football team as both an offensive and a defensive guard, lettering all three years he was eligible. Mike graduated with a BS degree in Education, Class of 1960, and followed with a Masters of Arts degree in Education from U of M. Mike started his coaching career at the University of Michigan as an assistant freshman coach. He then moved on to assistant coach at Glenbard West in Chicago and finally as head coach at Fenwick High School. Following his years as coach, Mike joined the fine wine and spirits industry, first with Brown Forman and then as president and owner of his company, Reliable Display. When Mike retired at the age of 50, he came to warm and sunny Florida and made it his home. During this time, he enjoyed playing the game of golf first at Stonebridge Country Club, then Pine Tree Golf Club, Harbor Club in Greensboro, GA, and at the Country Club of Florida in Golf, FL. Mike was known for his beautiful smile that could light up a room, his spectacular blue eyes and his generosity and tenacity. He maintained close friendships with college teammates, roommates, grammar school chums, working associates and his many golfing buddies who will forever miss him as a fourth. Mike always said, "Life is for the living. Keep your loved ones close to your heart." You were my love and my life. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Mike's memory to the Sol Goldman Pancreatic Research Center, Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions, Cr. Ralph Hruban, 600 North Wolfe Street, Carnegie 417, Baltimore, MD, 21287.
